They’re not the first two people in the public eye to pull off the admirable feat of getting married in secret. There are plenty of other celebrity couples that have also chosen to keep their wedding day private. Here, we take a look back at twelve celebrity duos who surprised us all with their undercover weddings.

Although she let Martha Stewart Weddings write about her Charleston nuptials, we only managed to see a glimpse of the custom-made Marchesa gown Blake Lively was said to have worn when she married Ryan Reynolds.

Louis Vuitton RTW Spring 2014: Bold Excessive Luxury

Louis Vuitton Runway Paris Fashion Week

Louis Vuitton knows how to put on a show. Never mind that the collection was beautiful or the models wore teetering giant peacock feathers on their head. The runway show today during Paris Fashion Week was nothing short of spectacular. Elevators, escalators, a fully functioning fountain and merry-go-round were the catwalk for the Spring 2014 collection. The pieces themselves didn’t take a backseat to the spectacle either. Dark and moody drama was the spirit of Marc Jacobs’ final Louis Vuitton show.

Miu Miu RTW Spring 2014: Why We Suddenly Want To Dress Like Dolls

Now this is the Miuccuia Prada that we wanted to see. The Miu Miu Spring 2014 collection shown yesterday during Paris Fashion Week was made of sugar, spice, everything nice and a little mod-ish sixties. With a girly attitude and some artsy flair, the collection looks made to wear. A perfectly styled blend of separates guarantees something for every taste and rocking this collection head to toe would just look so darn cute.

Valentin Yudashkin RTW Spring 2014: Stop Trying So Hard

You know the woman that’s in every group of friends—the one who thinks she’s the most fashionable, the most hip, the most trendy, when really she just looks ridiculous? Basically, she tries too hard. That was pretty much the Valentin Yudashkin Spring 2014 collection yesterday during Paris Fashion Week.

Valentino RTW Spring 2014: Operatic Opulence and Old-World Grandeur

To say the Valentino Spring 2014 collection was opulent would be a huge understatement. The collection shown today during Paris Fashion Week featured ornately decorated pieces influenced heavily by the Roman opera. Starting with light classical music, the show opened to a romantic and old-world notion of beauty and regality that we haven’t seen on the runway this year.

Chanel RTW Spring 2014: Satire Showcased Through Fashion

With a blend of art meets fashion, Karl Lagerfeld began the Chanel show with a gallery of art pieces, some of which celebrities like Katy Perry tried to quickly buy up before the show even began. The collection in and of itself is a colorful satire on the world of art and how it’s perceived in the realm of fashion. “The idea came from people who overreact to art today. It’s all become a little too much,” Largerfeld said of the collection during a preview. But the fashion shown at his Spring 2014 show during Paris Fashion Week was a beautiful combination of the two dynamics.

Stella McCartney RTW Spring 2014: Subtle Sensuality Makes For a Stunning Collection

Stella McCartney almost always has perfect designs. Her casual Spring 2014 collection during Paris Fashion Week was fantastic evidence of her unique style of ease and bravado. Pieces that seem like tailored staples have something that makes them pop, making the models look chic, simple and comfortable. The show started off with easy sportswear and built on that idea of subtle sensuality until the collection was an even balance of modesty and beauty.

first WHIT’s Fall 2014 Collection

The thing about being Kate Spade’s niece is you get quite a bit of perks in the fashion industry—showing at New York Fashion Week is one of them. It doesn’t hurt if you have some talent and a penchant for style, and so far it seems Whitney Pozgay, designer of WHIT, has a little of both. For WHIT’s Fall 2014 collection, she presented a collection worthy of girls like Alexa Chung and Zooey Deschanel who can pull off that school girl-cool without thinking twice. She took ready-to-wear quite literally with a collection that could be styled right off the runway.

Second WHIT’s Fall 2014 Collection

Fit and flared silhouettes were heavy in the collection, coming in both skirts and dresses that were paired with everything from trendy crop tops to Hawaiian-print shirts. Leather was used in light, playful ways—cut as pair of shorts or tank top instead of a heavy jacket. Shirt dresses, A-line cuts and boxy shapes were popular in the presentation. There was a clear blend of Madewell meets Kate Spade with fun prints in girly silhouettes and simple well-structured basics.

Third WHIT’s Fall 2014 Collection

While it’s a very easy collection and would be flattering on almost any body type, it also lacks creativity. Most of the pieces are reminiscent of something we’ve seen elsewhere—we could walk into any Bloomingdale’s and already find the same look on the racks. A girl can never have too many of these effortlessly flattering pieces, but as WHIT is now in its fourth year, there needs to be a little more push from Pozgay.

Fourth WHIT’s Fall 2014 Collection

But what it lacks in innovation it makes up for in its simplicity. Don’t know what to wear out to brunch? Grab one of these skirts. Having nothing to wear for date night? There are more than a few dresses to choose from—throw on some funky shoes and swing a jacket over your shoulders and you’re street style ready. We’ll keep an eye on WHIT to see how the brand progresses, but right now we’re pretty sure we've found a new favorite.

First New York Fashion Week

For Cynthia Rowley’s Fall 2014 presentation, one of the first things we noticed was an intense presence of color—and we’re not talking about that hideous backsplash either. Today at New York Fashion Week, Rowley showcased her new collection of women’s ready-to-wear—a line of mismatched shapes, ‘60s throwbacks and bright pops of color that make us feel like we could drag summer out all winter long. Broken up into both a day and night line, we could see ourselves grabbing a couple key pieces of each, but paired together, it was just sort of—boring.

Second New York Fashion Week

It isn’t a particularly standout collection—nor was it styled in a way that made us need to have it immediately, but there were a few pieces that played with shape and structure that made us take notice. Trumpet hemlines and boxy shoulders give the line a modern feel while small additions of fur, leather and prints add a little style to otherwise basic looks.

 Cynthia Rowley rtw fall 2014

Third New York Fashion Week

The day pieces consist mostly of brightly colored sweaters, skirts and jackets paired with accents of black—most consistently a pair of thigh-high leather boots. Short hemlines and looser cuts make it look youthful, but at the same time it almost mirrors an H&M catalog, and we’ve come to expect a little more of Rowley. Unexpected shades such as tomato red and baby blue were styled together and large buckle bracelets in various hues were worn with each look to add a larger color spectrum to the collection.

Fourth New York Fashion Week

In direct contrast, the evening collection was black with bright pops of colors in prints, accessories and peeks of underlying layers. Different textures were styled together in ways that either worked well or fell flat. The silhouettes on the evening pieces are decidedly more feminine than then the day line, and surprising elements such as thigh high slits, shirttail cuts and precise layering add depth to the collection.

Fifth New York Fashion Week

We could see ourselves wearing a few pieces here, assuming of course, that we’re allowed to restyle them and can ditch the other half of the look. It’s a big jump from Rowley’s last collection that consisted of sweet, feminine colors and floral prints, but for the most part it worked. And we’re just going to totally ignore the rainbow dress that looks like the model was covered in super glue then went rolling in the craft bin—just—no.

First Couture Fashion Week

One thing we love about Couture Fashion Week is the opportunity to see designers take their creations to the edge of their imaginations and back; that moment of blurring the line between fashion and art has made for some of the most beautiful pieces ever worn. The modern shapes and wearable styles from the Chanel Couture Spring 2014 runwaywere not artistic fantasies, but rather a more subdued version of what that dream could be. Soft, angelic shades came out in similar silhouettes that left us feeling sort of—underwhelmed—that is until we saw the evening gowns.

Second Couture Fashion Week

Karl Lagerfeld’s designs were absolutely modern—girls walked out in dresses with full skirts, slim waists and bubble crop tops in floral laces, pastel tweeds and basic solids, blending a more feminine silhouette and street style aesthetic into one perfect piece. We loved it—until we saw the exact same shape come down the runway a third, a fourth, afifteenth time. Paired with sneakers and metallic knee-pads (for all those sports you play in your Chanel couture), the dresses seemed fresh—playful yet sophisticated—something any “it” girl would be happily photographed in.

Third Couture Fashion Week

Despite the redundant shapes in the first half of the collection, the evening gowns were perfectly suited for the red carpet for both classic Hollywood starlets and young party girls. Sequins, iridescent fabrics and wispy feathers flowed over gowns while models floated down the runway staircase in soft pastels.

Fourth Couture Fashion Week

The collection was dazzling—light, delicate and almost ethereal in its beauty. It captured a modern femininity that’s rarely seen outsides of street style fashion, let alone on couture runways—but that’s the magic of Lagerfeld—his designs are an amalgam of timelessness and modernity. We just wish we had seen less of the crop-top bell-skirt-combo. And don’t even get us started on those fanny packs.

the Grammy Awards

show is one of the stranger events during awards season—maybe it’s all the performances, or its slighter younger rock ‘n’ roll crowd, or the wild music that just gets people overly pumped—but for some reason red-carpet stars don’t always bring their A-game. Celebrities wore grills, frumpy suits, giant hats and dresses that looked like they were more suited for a brothel than a Hollywood event. We know you have access to better looks than these, ladies. But out of all those high-cut, thigh-baring, mis-matched outfits there were a few that we sort of loved. Not because they were more traditional red-carpet gowns, but because they weren’t letting it all fall out—just because you can pull it off doesn’t mean you should.

Kacey Musgraves

The country music star may have won a Grammy for Best Country Album, but she totally won our hearts in her pale pink Armani Privé gown. It was light and delicately studded in Swarovski crystals with light tulle tiers that, thankfully, didn’t make her look like a cupcake. She topped off her gown with Forevermark Diamonds’ The Center of My Universe stud earring and bangle set in 18k rose gold, and Jimmy Choo Lance silver heels.

Kelly Osborne

We can honestly say we’ve seen some serious red carpet no-no’s from this rock princess, but last night’s gown was simple, sleek and anything but your basic black. There to support her dad who was nominated for the evening, Osborne wore a Badgley Mischka dress, Loree Rodkin yellow gold and diamond rings, her dad Ozzy‘s cross, and Brian Atwood shoes.

Louise Roe

Stars take note: if you’re going to be doing cutouts on the red carpet, keep them simple and not in a place you’re likely to have a nip-slip. Roe wore a little black dress, with on-trend cutouts in some very appropriate places. A little on the sides, some detailing on the top—it was fun and kept everything covered. She added a Kimberly McDonald yellow gold diamond and geode earrings, rings and bracelet for a little sparkle.

Louise Roe Grammys

Rita Ora

Metallics were all over the carpet during the Grammys from Taylor Swift’s Gucci gown to Ciara’s Pucci dress, but what we really loved was Ora’s youthful take on the trend. She wore a green, metallic Lanvin dress, with long sleeves and a short cut. The look was modern, fresh and totally different than the floor-grazing gowns we saw last night. She wore it with Lorraine Schwartz gold and diamond rings and Lanvin heels.

Rita Ora Grammys

Miranda Lambert

Wearing one of the most beautiful red gowns of the evening, Lambert donned a custom Pamela Rolland dress with a plunging neckline that was sexy and sleek without being overdone. Sticking with the red trend that’s so big this awards season, the Grammy nominee paired the dress with a Kimberly McDonald for Forevermark diamond bangle set in 18k oxidized gold.

Lighten up your Blues

Put on your cutest pair of flats grab your bff and off you go to your favourite shop. Mine happens to be Mango at the moment (we’re talking about affordable ones of course) and that’s where I found this bold blue dress for less than 40 Franks. Bargain buys are the best! :-) Shopping almost always does the trick for me. This time was no different; my spirits were immediately lifted and my world looked much brighter. Yellow defeats any blues so I went for these cheerful accessories I had spotted at Zara. Oh dear Spaniards what great taste you have in clothes! Mango and Zara never fail me. Despite them being Spanish the colour combination reminds me more of the Provence, southern France. Sunflowers everywhere, bright blue sky and mmhmm I even smell the Lavender. I definitely need a holiday. ;-) I hope you have a great journey ahead of you too and until then join me at my Provençal colour festival!

Walk in the Park

"Life is not a walk in the park" that’s what they say. After a crazy night out with the girls sometimes a walk in the green is the best you can do though. But there is no reason not to do it with style. Yes, I even wear heels on roads that are not perfectly even. But whereas in the concrete jungle you probably bump into me wearing my nicest stilettos on the countryside it would rather be the safest version of heels: wedges. I got these at the sales at Kookai where I also found this playful and romantic leather bag. The cry out loud yellow dress is from Zara, where else. It is perfect for hot days like these since the flowy material gives you an easy breezy feeling. The belt (guess where from? Yes, it had to be Mango) takes up the chain pattern from the dress and I simply love it since I have a bit an obsession for anything that is gold. Not everything is gold that sparkles (German saying), but what holds true in most cases is that all that’s gold is potentially my taste. ;-) The Tory Burch earrings are my favourites from a not less favourite friend. Friends, a little bling and fashion make that walk in the park so much more agreeable, don’t you think?

All About Accessories (and a Little Black Dress)

20 bucks left and still feeling the urge to treat yourself to something nice? Go to H&M and get this super affordable and simple black dress. What’s great about it is that you can style it up or keep it casual. How refreshing to have something that adapts to your mood swings! ;-) As this LBD is quite plain it’s ideal to showcase your favourite accessories. You might have guessed by now that I have a thing for gold. You can’t blame me though, black and gold is such a classic combination that you can’t ever go wrong with it. Put on these exclusive Giuseppe Zanotti sandals and fishing for compliments won’t be necessary. ;-) If you ask yourself how the heck I was able to afford these check out my first post “Markentussi - a broke girl’s heaven” and your question will be answered. Rea’s shop will open its doors near Schaffhauserplatz (Zürich) end of August by the way. Thank you Markentussi for making my cute Salvatore Ferragamo bag another bargain buy! I can’t stress enough how great this shop and its lovely owner are! But hey you, my dear fashion friends, don’t snatch away anything great from under my nose or I might turn into a crazy fashion fury! ;-) Meet you later at the sales at Globus where I got these gorgeous earrings. My ever so faithful friends Hennes & Mauritz made an other contribution to this look: the bracelet. Don’t be afraid to mix designer stuff with cheaper things. Simply go with the flow and accessorize, girl! Have fun making a generic black H&M dress look fab and unique!
