The Jumpsuit - Its Perks and Potential for Problems

I never used to like jumpsuits. But since they are so en vogue this season I thought I’d give them a try. As I wouldn’t count them as the most flattering piece of clothing a woman can have in her closet I went for this simple black one from Mango. Mirror mirror on the wall do you like this jumpsuit at all? The vendor informed me that I HAD to get it if I wanted to be trendy. Was she right and anyway, did I care? What eventually sold me on buying it wasn’t the pushy saleslady but the golden belt. It was just so pretty! :-) Gold seems to have some sort of mind and vision blurring effect on me. I see something in this colour and I stop thinking rationally haha. So I walked out 100 bucks poorer with a jumpsuit that has a nice belt (it’s really great, don’t you agree?).

Now that I had it I might as well make it work. Hm, where to wear it to? I chose it for a day with my girls. I didn’t know where the day and especially the night might take us. With this jumpsuit I’d be prepared for anything. It’s actually rather comfortable and so easy to style. Since you have only one item of clothing there is not much to worry about. Wear it with a cute bag and pair of nice shoes and you’re dressed. I suggest heels for that extra glamorous umph! (and to make up for the figure unfriendliness). I was excited that I could finally showcase my gorgeous shoes from Aldo with the matching clutch. Oh Aldo, I love you! Fellow broke girls, I’m ready to share him with you ;-) Seriously, if your budget isn’t as big as your dreams Aldo is THE shop for you. The studded cuff I spotted at Mango when I was waiting at the checkout. This keeps happening to me. It doesn’t only work with children and sweets. Next time I’ll just close my eyes when I’m waiting to pay in order to ignore the nicely lined up jewellery in front of the cash point. Anyway, this cuff would give my look a little edge and would finish it off nicely. I was ready for fun with the girls.

Fun was had. After hours of girly chit chat at our favourite café we headed to a bar where we got into a discussion about jumpsuits with a couple of guys. And no surprise, they univocally agreed that they all preferred their girlfriends to wear dresses. We came up with the theory that although the name suggests a certain playfulness that’s actually the problem with jumpsuits. “Playing” is made difficult - it’s just too hard to get them off. ;-) We pretended that we were upset and said we didn’t dress for guys anyway. After the second drink I urgently had to go to the bathroom. Of course, as it is always the case with the ladies’ room, there was a long queue. When it was my turn at last all I could do is curse that frickin’ jumpsuit. I forgot that you have to take the whole thing off. Oh and the guys were right for once - it takes ages to do so, let alone put it on again. Those cheeky guys grinningly asked me if I had peed myself when they saw my annoyed face upon my return. Overall, although comfortable to wear and easy to style the jumpsuit can cause certain (unexpected) problems. It can save money, but time saved at styling is lost elsewhere. Have fun wearing it, but don’t forget to plan those extra five minutes!
